Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics.
Honesty and integrity do seem to be in short supply these days in many arenas. The old saying that what goes around comes around can apply here.
A certain baker habitually bought his butter from a neighborhood farmer.
One day he became suspicious that the butter was not of the same weight. The baker had the farmer arrested.
"I presume you have weights," said the judge.
"No sir," replied the farmer.
"How then do you manage to weigh the butter you sell?"
"That's easy," said the farmer, "when the baker commenced buying his butter from me, I thought I had better get my bread from him, and it's his own one-pound loaf that I have been using as the weight for the butter I sell. If the weight of the butter is wrong he has only himself to blame." (Encyclopedia of 15,000 Illustrations: Signs of the Times)
The Bible has a lot to say about honesty.
Romans 12:17 (KJV)
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
2 Corinthians 13:7 (KJV)
7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 01-31-09
