Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics.
Legitimate and proper laws should not be challenged or ignored. These include spiritual laws as well as civil and natural laws. To do so could bring certain death. It has been said that you cannot break the law; the law will break you. A law without penalty is no law at all.
When the State of Washington first passed a law taxing the retail sales of gasoline, the legislature forgot to attach a penalty to a violation of the law. At first dealers began collecting and paying the tax, but when they discovered the error they refused to comply. The legislature then had to be called back into special session in order to attach a penalty. —Evangelistic Illustration
Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, wrote the well-known Gospel tract titled, "The Four Spiritual Laws". This is how he stated them.
1. God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. (John 3:16, 10:10)
2. Man is sinful and separated from God. Therefore, he cannot experience God's love and plan for his life. (Romans 3:23, 6:23)
3. Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin. Through Him you can know and experience God's love and plan for your life. (Romans 5:8, 1 Corinthians 15:3-6)
4. We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives. (John 1:12, John 3:1-8, Revelation 3:20)
What is the penalty for ignoring these laws?
Romans 7:5 (NKJV)
5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. 08-26-09
