Cartoonology Devotional 08-31-09
Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoon and comics.
Who's to blame? That is a question repeated every day by many people looking for someone to fault for their problems and hang-ups. Maybe it is their parents, their schoolteacher, their doctor, their employer, their pastor, etc., or it could be their genetic makeup. And, if a lawsuit can be had, more blame can be found.
Silly lawsuits abound these days. In Grand Haven, Michigan, a cleaner had stolen what she thought was a large candle from the condominium she had cleaned. Later, while at a restaurant with friends, she lit the 'candle'. The candle was in fact a huge firecracker and the woman was severely injured. She sued the condominium owners for not putting a warning on it.
I once had an automobile accident after a person ran a stop sign. I hit him in the side of his car. Someone asked me what went through my mind when it happened. My immediate response "Who is at fault?".
There is usually enough blame to go around. However, I will never be complete or whole until I accept responsibility for my own actions and decisions. There are consequences in life that no one else is responsible for, except me. Blaming other people will never make me feel better or become more responsible.
1 Chronicles 21:8 (NKJV)
8 So David said to God, "I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing; but now, I pray, take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly." 08-31-09
