Cartoonology Devotional 05-25-09 E. Larry Ross Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics. The Apostle Paul places all people in one of three categories in 1 Corinthians 2:14 through 1 Corinthians 3:4. They are the natural man, the spiritual man and the carnal Christian. These are best described as the lost man, the Christ-like Christian and the worldly-minded Christian. Bill Bright used these concepts to create the evangelistic tract titled “The 4 Spiritual Laws” and describes the spiritual man as one who is filled with the Holy Spirit. What does being filled with the Holy Spirit mean? How can I know if I am filled with the Holy Spirit? 1. When I am conscious of and repentant of my own sin (Acts 2:38). 2. When the Holy Spirit is in complete control of my life (Galatians 5:16). 3. When the fruit of the Holy Spirit is evident in my life (Galatians 5:22-26). I once read this definition but cannot remember where. “Being filled with the Holy Spirit does not mean I get more of Him, but that He gets more of me”. Pretty good! This is what Paul means by the spiritual man. This is a man who is Christ-conscious in every aspect of his life, even when he is alone and no one is looking. Of course, God is always looking. Ephesians 5:18 (HCSB) 18 And don’t get drunk with wine, which [leads to] reckless actions, but be filled with the Spirit: 05-25-09 edrynn@verizon.net Click on the link here to see all previous Cartoonology Devotionals.
