Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics.
The biblical story of Jericho falling to the Israelites was indeed a disaster for them (Jos 6:17-25). However, it was victory for Israel. There was another character in that story that also experienced victory, Rahab the harlot. It is interesting that Rahab is found in the New Testament Hall of Faith.
Hebrews 11:30-31 (NKJV)
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.
31 By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace.
Why would a harlot be found in the hall of faith? A close look at the story of Rahab and the spies visit with her (Josh 2:1), reveal that by the time the spies came to her, she had already become a changed woman. She was no longer a harlot. She had taken the necessary steps for right decision-making. These include:
Seeking the truth (Josh 2:8)
Taking notice of the truth (Josh 2:10)
Engaging the truth (Josh 2:11)
Planning on the truth (Josh 2:12)
Standing on the truth (Josh 2:15)
The fact that Rahab is still referred to as a harlot in the New Testament stands as a reminder that by faith, God can transform a life of sin and rebellion into a life of usefulness in His Kingdom. Hebrews 11:31 indicates that Rahab’s faith saved her life from that of a harlot. The same can happen to all who place their faith in Christ no matter what you have done or where you have been.
