Cartoonology Devotional 09-04-09
Cartoonology Devotional. There is great theology in cartoons and comics.
Some people really aren't happy unless they can complain. Are you a complainer? Most likely, if you are, you don't realize it. Complaining and grumbling can become a bad habit just like any other vice. Looking for the negatives in everything becomes the norm. Dwelling on them becomes a serious problem.
The Sunshine Magazine reported, "Our forefathers did without sugar until the 13th century; without coal fires until the 14th century; without battered bread until the 15th century; without potatoes until the 16th century; without coffee, tea, and soup until the 17th century; without pudding until the 18th century; without eggs, matches, and electricity until the 19th century; without canned goods until the 20th century. Now, what was it we were complaining about?"
Someone once said, "Whenever you are tempted to tell your troubles to other people, remember that half of your listeners aren't interested, and the rest are glad you're finally getting what's coming to you." Well, that may not be entirely true, but it is true that all of us face problems and difficulties almost daily, and complaining seldom solves them.
In the Bible we find Moses leading a grumbling Hebrew nation through the wilderness on their way to Canaan Land. They complained the whole distance, and some of them would have chosen to go back to Egypt and live in slavery again. In essence, a spirit of grumbling and complaining is a type of slavery itself. Thank goodness there will be no complaining in heaven.
Philippians 2:14 (KJV) 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 09-04-09
