Cartoonology Devotional 07-20-09 E. Larry Ross Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics. A Pennsylvania toddler played the game of hide-and-seek so well that the family had to call police and firefighters to help find her. Two-year-old Natalie Jasmer was playing with her siblings in their Pymatuning Township home. When the family couldn’t find her, parents Dennis and Michelle Jasmer called authorities. Emergency crews and friends frantically searched the neighborhood for about an hour. The family's dog, Copper, finally sniffed her out. She had fallen asleep in a drawer underneath the family's washing machine. The Apostle Paul once spoke to the god-seeking pagans of Athens about one of the altars at which they worshipped. It had inscribed on it, “To The Unknown God”. The purpose of such an altar was to make sure no god was overlooked. Paul immediately seized the opportunity to identify this “Unknown God”, and he preached to them Jesus. In so many words, Paul told them your search for the one true God is over. Paul affirmed their quest for God. He explained how that He had created all men with an intrinsic desire to seek after Him and that seeking after God is His purpose for mankind. He also told them they did not need to search far and wide. He is not asleep, but he is right under our noses, so to speak. Acts 17:27-28a (NKJV) 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being.
