Cartoonology Devotional 06-10-09 E. Larry Ross Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics. Do people still fly kites these days? Just think. Without kites we might never have had electricity. I spent quite a few days flying kites growing up. Flying a kite can be a great exercise in futility. I had some very successful attempts, but I can easily identify with Charlie Brown. The scriptures teach us that God has subjected all creation to frustration and futility. This was due to man’s sinful fall and the fact that this earth is where God placed him. Read what God said through the Apostle Paul. Romans 8:20-21 (NKJV) 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Notice that this subjection to futility is also couched in hope. God has not left us helpless and condemned. He has given us a plan that brings hope in despair, a plan that delivers from bondage and liberates us as children of God. Thank the Lord that, in Christ, we are just pilgrims passing through this old world on to a more glorious abode in heaven where there will be rest and eternal bliss. 06-10-09 Click on the link here to see all previous Cartoonology Devotionals.
