Cartoonology Devotional 05-06-09 E. Larry Ross Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics. The New King James Translation of the Bible properly translates Exodus 20:13 as, “Thou shall not murder”. It does not prohibit all taking of life. There are times when the taking of another life is necessitated and carried out by the state or other authorities. Unless authorized by a proper authority or done so in self-defense, the taking of life is murder. Jehovah God places great value upon life. He is the life-giving God. The Bible speaks of a tree of life, water of life, the crown of life, the Book of Life, eternal life, everlasting life, the word of life, the grace of life, the promise of life, the Spirit of life, the light of life, the bread of life, and life many other ways. The word “life” is found in the Bible in over 450 verses. If God wants anything for His people it is life and life in abundance. 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV) 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. If God values our life, how much more should we value every last minute of it? 05-06-09 edrynn@verizon.net Lord, I want my life to be in you.
