Cartoonology Devotional 09-03-09
Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics.
Have you ever been tricked or caught in a trap? Some traps are life threatening.
Satan is a master at trickery and he is probably the most creative being, other than God. He demonstrated that in the very beginning when he tempted Adam and Eve. The Bible describes Satan with vivid terms. Below are just a few of them.
A dragon (Revelation 12:3-4
A roaring lion. (1 Peter 5:8)
An adversary (1 Peter 5:8)
An accuser (Revelation 12:10)
The father of all lies (John 8:44)
A murderer (John 8:44)
Joe Page, the Yankee relief ace, said he dreamed one night that he was in heaven, and was assigned the task of forming a baseball team of all the great stars available there. "But who will we play against?" he asked. Just then the Devil telephoned and challenged him to a series. "Four games out of seven," suggested the Devil, "and no miracles on either side." "What chance have you got?" scoffed Page. "Every great ball player goes to heaven when he dies!" "I'm not worrying," the Devil told him. "I've got all the umpires."
We often joke about Satan, but he is really no joking matter. The Bible is filled with warnings for us concerning him. Make sure he doesn't have you on his side.
1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 09-03-09
