I love cartoons and have noticed through the years that they quite often contain a spiritual message or hint. Cartoons often depict the culture of our day. This blog is an attempt to draw from cartoons and apply spiritual truths than can impact our lives. Let me know if you find them of any value. Previous devotionals are archived below.

Cartoonology Devotional 04-08-09

Red & Rover

Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics.

Have you heard the latest quest of NASA. “Launched successfully on March 6, 2009, Kepler, a NASA Discovery mission will help scientists determine just how many Earthlike planets may exist in our galactic neighborhood.” I am not sure what the purpose is. Are we planning to inhabit another “earth” so we can mess it up or junk up its orbit, too? Will we send all our “unacceptables” there? Or, maybe the government doesn’t think it has gotten us enough into debt already (We have already hit an all-time high of over 11 Trillion Dollars). It seems to me we should worry more about the earth we already know exists and its inhabitants. I agree that the universe is fascinating and that there is a lot more to learn about it. For me, however, it is just a reminder of just how big our Creator God is.

Genesis 1:1 (NLT)
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

After all these years, today’s evolutionists are still challenging the view that God created the universe. Most evolutionists are atheists, and this is the major reason they embrace evolution. They do not want to believe there is a God who holds them accountable morally and ethically. Evolution is still a theory and it is still a theory that lacks verifiable, proven evidence. In fact, true science invalidates it. The Second Law of Thermodynamics invalidates it. This law teaches that everything in the universe is in a stage of entropy. In other words, everything is moving downward, deteriorating, decaying, or degenerating. This includes people, animals, earth, the sun, as well as all manmade things. Take a good look at me and you can see that!

Evolution, however, teaches that everything moved upward from some spontaneous, random generation billions of years ago, which eventually resulted in man evolving from fish to monkey to human. Creation is, by far, much more logical. You would think that the farther man explores the universe, the more he would have to believe there is a Creator God. The Bible explains the problem (Romans 1:16-32).

Romans 1:21 (NKJV)
21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 04-08-09
