I love cartoons and have noticed through the years that they quite often contain a spiritual message or hint. Cartoons often depict the culture of our day. This blog is an attempt to draw from cartoons and apply spiritual truths than can impact our lives. Let me know if you find them of any value. Previous devotionals are archived below.

Cartoonology 05-08-09

Cartoonology. There is great theology in cartoons and comics.

Mathematics was never my strong suit in school. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I had a strong suit in school, but the only college class in which I made less than a "B " was pre-calculus. The only reason I took that course was to avoid another language class, which required changing my degree to Bachelor of Science. It was a gamble that I almost lost. I am convinced that calculus is a crackpot theory and no amount of prayer cloths will help.

Prayer helps, however. It will help in any situation. The older I get, the more I tend to pray, and the more I pray about. I suppose that is natural, but prayer doesn't always come natural to many of us. It is something that must be learned. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray and gave them what we call the Lord's Prayer.

One of the shortest verses in the Bible is about prayer.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) "pray without ceasing,"

How can you do that? Prayer is communication - talking and listening to God, and therefore, we must remember that prayer is about relationship. Talking and listening requires relationship, and a relationship can continue without ceasing. 05-08-09
