I had just begun my ministry at a church in Maryland, and the church had just begun installing their first air conditioning system. It cooled the sanctuary real well, but there was one problem. The noise from the fans was almost unbearable. When the church called installers to investigate, no one could think of a solution. Finally, a simple laborer in the group said, “I know what to do”. His suggestion was simple but ingenious, and on top of that it was inexpensive. All too often we tend to make things more complicated than they really are or should be. People often make the Gospel message of salvation too complicated. It is hard for them to believe it can be so simple yet; it is exactly that – simple. Men have this inherent desire to want to earn their way to heaven while at the same time find their efforts a vicious cycle in futility. The Apostle Paul provided us some great arguments for the simplicity of the Gospel. Sincerely accept them at face value and embrace them today. After all, Jesus took care of all the complicated parts. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT) 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed.
