I love cartoons and have noticed through the years that they quite often contain a spiritual message or hint. Cartoons often depict the culture of our day. This blog is an attempt to draw from cartoons and apply spiritual truths than can impact our lives. Let me know if you find them of any value. Previous devotionals are archived below.

Cartoonology Devotional 08-21-09

Cartoonology Devotional 08-21-09
Cartoonology.  There is great theology in cartoons or comics.
Women like to joke about us men concerning listening.  They will say things like, "He has selective hearing."  They might be right, but there is another factor concerning men when it comes to listening.   Men's brains are wired differently than women.  Most men cannot focus on more that one thing at a time.
My wife definitely has an advantage over me in the area of listening.  She can answer the phone, listen to the radio, and meet the postman at the door all at the same time and still tell you what she heard on the radio.  She can also hear sounds I can't hear.  When I use our digital thermometer, I can't hear the beeping sound it makes to tell me it is time to remove it from my mouth.  However, my wife can hear it in the next room.  That is because I have lost my high pitch hearing working with and around loud equipment.
The lack of listening or hearing can get you into trouble.  Do you remember the commercial in which the woman walks into the room where her husband is working on his computer?  She asks him if her dress makes her look fat and he answers yes without even looking.  I can identify with that commercial.  Some things should never be ignored or missed!
Revelation 2:7 (NKJV)
7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God." '   08-21-09
