I love cartoons and have noticed through the years that they quite often contain a spiritual message or hint. Cartoons often depict the culture of our day. This blog is an attempt to draw from cartoons and apply spiritual truths than can impact our lives. Let me know if you find them of any value. Previous devotionals are archived below.

Cartoonology Devotional 11-20-09

Cartoonology Devotional 11-20-09

Cartoonology.  There is great theology in cartoons and comics.

I am convinced that our washing machine eats socks.  I have a wad of mismatched socks.  Maybe you have a dog that eats yours, but since I do not, this is the only explanation I can come up with.  I am certain that if I took my machine apart, I would find my missing socks down in there someplace.

I am not the only one with this theory.  There is a whole facebook page dedicated to the question, as well as other web sites.  Will the mystery ever be solved?  One man declares his machine did eat a sock after finding one in its drain line.  Here is one solution:  the Sock Sack.

It is funny how the things you want to disappear never go away and things you would like to hold on to keep disappearing.  When some things disappear, it is a blessing.  When other things refuse to disappear, it can be a curse.

Fortunately for God's people, the Lord is able to make the guilt and shame of our sin disappear.  This takes place, when we become washed and made clean through the blood of Jesus.  God makes wonderful promises in this area that the believer needs to claim every day.

Here is one.  Psalm 103:12 (NKJV)  As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

To claim this promise from God, pray a prayer like unto that of King David.

 Psalm 51:2-3 (NKJV)
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.  11-20-09
